Two Killed By Gunmen In Ogun

No fewer than two people were killed on Monday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, by gunmen.

According to reports, a group of three gunmen shot two people dead, while two others sustained gunshot wounds.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement.

According to her, the incident occurred at around 12:30a.m in the parking lots of Diamond Dumplings, GRA, Abeokuta.

โ€œThree armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate, demanding the car keys,โ€ Odutola stated.

โ€œThe assailants opened fire, hitting one Ola (surname unknown) and one Shobanke Oluwatimileyin and two others.

โ€œThe Divisional Police Officer from Ibara, responding to distress calls, arrived the scene and ensured the area was secure before transporting the victims to the hospital.

โ€œUpon their arrival, the attending doctor confirmed two fatalities, while the other two individuals are receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta,โ€ she added.

The police spokesperson stated that a preliminary investigation has been launched to examine the circumstances surrounding the two deaths and to assess any potential links to cult-related activities.

โ€œThe public will be informed about the progress of the investigation in the coming days, as a follow up to arrest the fleeing suspects,โ€ Odutola concluded.
