Wema Bank has been crowned the No. 1 Best Workplace in Nigeria for 2024 by the prestigious Great Place to Work (GPTW) Awards, held recently in Lagos.
This achievement highlights Wema Bank’s commitment to fostering an innovative and supportive work culture, focusing on employee well-being, work-life balance, and mental health initiatives.
The Great Place to Work Awards recognize organizations that prioritize healthy work environments and employee satisfaction, using insights derived from the Trust Index Survey—a globally recognized tool that assesses workplace culture through the employees’ perspective.
Organizations that meet the survey’s benchmark are awarded GPTW certification, a symbol of their commitment to creating exemplary work environments.
Receiving the award, Wema Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Moruf Oseni, dedicated the honor to the bank’s employees, commending their loyalty and the positive workplace culture they help create. Oseni emphasized the significance of the award, noting that it “reflects our employees’ true perception of the bank.”
He added, “We will continue to provide an unparalleled work experience for them and a seamless banking experience for our customers.”
Oseni highlighted several of Wema Bank’s employee benefits that contributed to the award. Among them are highly competitive salaries, a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for non-full-time employees, comprehensive welfare packages, health maintenance benefits, and pensions.
Wema Bank also provides strategic facilities such as the Purple Crèche for employees with infants, a fully equipped gym, and a variety of other benefits aimed at improving employee satisfaction and work-life balance.
He further stated, “This award not only reflects our employees’ true perception of the bank but also shows how far we have come as a bank. It challenges us to exceed expectations, break new ground, and set new standards of excellence.”
Wema Bank’s journey with Great Place to Work began in 2023, when the bank gained its first GPTW certification and received four awards, including recognition as the 2nd Best Place to Work in Nigeria (Large Corporate Organization Category), and the Victor Ligbago Award for Best Workplace for Millennials.
The bank was also recognized for fostering a culture of innovation and promoting learning and development practices.
With this latest accolade, Wema Bank reinforces its position as a leader in workplace culture in Nigeria, setting the standard for other organizations seeking to improve employee well-being and drive positive cultural transformation.
