‘Your Education Is A Waste’ – Wike Blasts Activists Accusing Him Of Land Grabbing

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said activists accusing him of land grabbing are uneducated.

Naija News reported that human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, alleged that Wike’s public service career had been centred around personal enrichment, accusing him of monopolizing public resources and engaging in corrupt practices.

“Where is Wike’s second address? Wike does not have a second address. His only address is the looting of public resources and the public purse. Look at the way he’s grabbing land in the FCT and giving it to his friends. He’s grabbing parks and converting them into residential buildings,” Adeyanju said.

However, in a statement through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike challenged those making such allegations of land grabbing to provide evidence of lands owned by anyone which he grabbed.

He said, “If supposed educated people are going about calling the removal of shanties that are posing security threats to the people land grabbing, obviously, their education is a waste.

“People just saw lands that are not occupied and moved there without authorization from anyone. Under the trees, they built houses with planks and covered them with tarpaulin.

“For instance, when the FCT Minister visited the shanty in Wuye, which shared a fence with a residential estate and is close to a rail line, the occupants were honest enough to admit that they had no authority from anyone to live there. They also admitted that previous governments had cleared the shanty 21 times and that the recent one was the 22nd time.

“The occupants’s only request from the FCT Ministry is for them to be relocated to somewhere else, and a meeting was held with their representatives on Tuesday.

“So if this is what our hustler activists are referring to as land grabbing, I pity those who still see them as educated.”
