Champion Breweries Plc has introduced its flagship beverages, Champion Lager Beer and Champ Malta, in non-returnable cans for the first time in its 50-year history.
The launch marks a significant shift in the company’s strategy, aiming to meet growing consumer demand for convenience, portability, and on-the-go refreshment.
Speaking during the official unveiling of the product on Thursday in Uyo, Dr. Inalegwu Adoga, Managing Director/CEO of Champion Breweries Plc., expressed excitement about the milestone achieved by the company so far.
He said that the new cans will initially be distributed across strategic markets, with further expansion planned.
He said: “This launch is a testament to our commitment to innovation and growth. We’re enhancing consumer convenience while staying true to the quality that Champion is known for.”
Mr. Anthony Osagwu, Head of Sales and Commercial Excellence, highlighted the strategic nature of the launch, noting that the rebranding of the products remains a significant achievement in the company.
He said: “We’ve listened to our distributors, bulk breakers, and consumers. The introduction of cans aligns with market preferences, allowing us to penetrate new market segments and expand our reach.”

Blueprint reports that Champion Breweries Plc. was established in 1974, with the headquarters in Akwa Ibom state and it has consistently produced quality beverages, including Champion premium quality Lager Beer, Champ Malta, and among other beverages.
