Across Taylor Sheridan‘s eight TV shows, 22 actors have had roles in multiple projects, and some even started working with the acclaimed writer when he made films. Taylor Sheridan is responsible for some of the best shows on Paramount+, and some of the most successful shows in television right now. From the massive franchise Yellowstone to recent hits like Landman, which set streaming records with its premiere, Sheridan’s popularity has only grown with each new project he creates. Even as he grows in fame, however, Sheridan remembers the people who helped get him there.
From massive movie stars like Demi Moore and Jeremy Renner to up-and-coming actors like Jacob Lofland and Isabel May, Sheridan’s shows owe a lot to the casts that made them up. Sheridan clearly understands how important actors are to a show’s success, and he’s asked 22 of them to take roles in at least two of his shows. Anyone who watches all of Sheridan’s TV shows will see some familiar faces pop up across the country and across the decades, and Sheridan’s upcoming shows will likely only add to his list of recurring actors.
22 Taylor Sheridan
Yellowstone, Lioness, 1883
Probably the most noticeable recurring actor in Taylor Sheridan’s shows is Taylor Sheridan himself. Sheridan has given himself cameos in Yellowstone as Travis Wheatley, in 1883 as Charles Goodnight, and in Lioness as Cody Spears. He also had a cameo appearance in one of his movies, Hell or High Water, where he appeared as a cowboy. Additionally, if the upcoming Yellowstone spinoff 6666 ever comes to fruition, it will heavily feature the ranch Sheridan owns in real life.
21 Domenick Lombardozzi
Tulsa King, Yellowstone
Domenick Lombardozzi doesn’t seem like a recurring Taylor Sheridan actor, but that’s only because his first role was so small. Before he played Chickie Invernizzi, one of the primary antagonists of Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi in Tulsa King, Lombardozzi had an unnamed role as a masked assailant in Yellowstone season 2, episode 7. Obviously, Lombardozzi is much more well known for being part of the cast of Tulsa King as well as other action shows like Reacher.
20 Barry Corbin
Tulsa King, Yellowstone
Barry Corbin has been acting in Western roles for decades, so it makes sense that Sheridan would cast him in two of his most Western shows. In Yellowstone season 4, Corbin plays Ross, a seasoned ranch hand at the four sixes, and in Tulsa King season 1, he played Mitch Keller’s (Garrett Hedlund) relative Babe. Interestingly, Corbin’s and Sheridan’s filmographies lined up long before the latter began writing, though their paths didn’t actually cross. Both Corbin and Sheridan appeared as actors in episodes of Chuck Norris’ Walker, Texas Ranger; Corbin in 1999 and Sheridan in 1995.
19 Dave Annable
Lioness, Yellowstone
Dave Annable is one of the original cast members of Yellowstone, and he played one of the most forgotten Dutton siblings. In Yellowstone season 1 – as well as one episode in season 4 – Annable played Lee Dutton, and in Lioness, he starred as Joe’s (Zoe Saldaña) husband, Neal. Despite being killed off early in Yellowstone, Annable’s relationship with Sheridan clearly paid off in the long run.
18 Gratiela Brancusi
1883, Mayor of Kingstown
Gratiela Brancusi hasn’t starred in one of Sheridan’s shows, but she has had fairly prominent roles in two of them. Brancusi played Neomi in 1883, and she also plays Tatiana Sonovitchka in Mayor of Kingstown. Brancusi’s collaborations with Sheridan are actually her only credits as an actor, so their partnership has been incredibly important to her career.
17 Michael Beach
Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King
Michael Beach is one of the few actors Taylor Sheridan consistently casts who have not yet appeared in Yellowstone or one of its spinoffs. Beach has only appeared in original shows like Mayor of Kingstown, where he stars as Captain Moore, and in Tulsa King, where he plays Mark Mitchell, Tyson’s (Jay Will) father. Beach’s work with Sheridan is far from his only source of employment, however, as he’s had a very active 2024 with appearances in shows like S.W.A.T., Dead Boy Detectives, The Perfect Couple, and more.
16 Graham Greene
1883, Tulsa King
Graham Greene has only appeared in two of Sheridan’s TV shows, but he had a prominent role in one of his movies: he played Ben, chief of the reservation police, in Wind River. As for Sheridan’s shows, Greene played Spotted Eagle in 1883, and he had a cameo as Old Smoke in Tulsa King. Greene’s appearance in Tulsa King saw him deliver the hilarious “Da White Man, Freddy” line to Sylvester Stallone’s character, Dwight Manfredi.
15 Stephanie Nur
Lioness, 1883
Like many of Taylor Sheridan’s favorite actors, Stephanie Nur began her relationship with the writer with a cameo appearance. Nur appeared in two episodes of 1883 as Melodi, one of the prostitutes at the bar, and later had a starring role as Aaliyah Amrohi in Lioness. Nur’s work with Sheridan likely helped her secure her most recent role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, where she played Qamar.
14 LaMonica Garrett
1883, Lioness
Like Stephanie Nur, LaMonica Garrett has appeared in two of Taylor Sheridan’s shows: 1883, where he played Thomas, and Lioness, where he played Tucker. Unlike Nur, Garrett’s roles in Sheridan’s shows have been more prominent. Thomas was the second-in-command of the wagon train alongside Sam Elliott’s Shea Brennan, and Tucker was a prominent member of Joe’s QRF team.
13 Billy Bob Thornton
Landman, 1883
Before he started working oil fields as Tommy Norris, Billy Bob Thornton had another role in a Taylor Sheridan show. Thornton now stars in Landman, but he previously appeared as Marshal Jim Courtright in 1883. In an interview Thornton did with Screen Rant, the actor spoke about reuniting with Sheridan and lauded his ability to write characters that play to an actor’s strengths.
12 Lane Garrison
Yellowstone & Mayor of Kingstown
Lane Garrison is mainly known for playing Donnie Fenn in Shooter and Tweener Apolskis in Prison Break, but he’s also collaborated with Sheridan on two projects. Garrison has a starring role in Mayor of Kingstown as Carney, and he appeared for four episodes of Yellowstone season 2 as Ray. Interestingly, a film Garrison wrote, You Gotta Believe, included a special thanks to Sheridan.
11 Hugh Dillon
Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown
Hugh Dillon had long acting and singing careers before he worked with Taylor Sheridan, but the writer included him in two of his most successful shows. Dillon plays Sheriff Donnie Haskell in Yellowstone, and he also stars as Ian in Mayor of Kingstown. Sheridan and Dillon also worked together before the writer moved to television, as he played Curtis in the Sheridan-written movie Wind River.
10 Tokala Black Elk
Yellowstone, 1883
Tokala Black Elk has only had a couple small roles in Taylor Sheridan’s shows. He made a cameo appearance as a Lakota Warrior in an episode of 1883, and he appeared in four episodes of Yellowstone season 1 as Sam Stands Alone. Outside his work with Sheridan, Black Elk is known for playing Takoda on Happy’s Place.
9 Neal McDonough
Yellowstone, Tulsa King
Taylor Sheridan particularly likes placing Neal McDonough in villainous roles. In Yellowstone season 2, McDonough played Malcolm Beck opposite Terry Serpico’s Teal Beck, and in Tulsa King season 2, he played Cal Thresher opposite Frank Grillo’s Bill Bevilaqua. McDonough also has an extensive career beyond Sheridan’s influence, as he appeared in classic movies like Minority Report and the Captain America MCU films.
8 Jennifer Ehle
1923, Lioness
Jennifer Ehle has had a few recurring roles in Taylor Sheridan’s shows. In 1923, Ehle played Sister Mary, and in Lioness, she played Mason, one of the presidential advisors who regularly speaks to the CIA team in the situation room. Outside Sheridan’s shows, Ehle is known for movies like Pride and Prejudice and Zero Dark Thirty.
7 Michelle Randolph
Landman, 1923
Michelle Randolph is one of the few actors Taylor Sheridan regularly employs who had not one but two starring roles in his shows. Randolph first played Elizabeth Stafford in 1923, and she now plays Ainsley Norris in Landman. Randolph’s role as Ainsley in Landman has come under some scrutiny due to her character’s age – she’s supposed to be a 17-year-old – and the sexual nature of her storyline.
6 Robyn Lively
Lioness, Landman
Robyn Lively is a new addition to the list of Taylor Sheridan’s favorite actors. Lively first appeared as Senator Albright in Lioness season 2, and in the same year she appeared as Ellie in Landman. Interestingly, before she joined the cast of Landman, both Lively and Sheridan appeared as actors in both CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: NY, though in separate episodes.
5 Nichole Galicia
1883, Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown
Nichole Galicia technically has worked with Sheridan on three separate shows, but her first appearance was in a very small role. Galicia first appeared as an uncredited extra on the street in 1883, then as Charlotte Riley in Yellowstone season 4, and finally, in her largest role to date, as Rebecca in Mayor of Kingstown. In other movies and shows, Galicia is known for small roles in Django Unchained and Defiance.
4 Matt Gerald
Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, Yellowstone
Matt Gerald has appeared in three separate Taylor Sheridan shows, and his characters have very varied levels of involvment in their respective shows. Gerald played Cody in an episode of Lioness season 1, he appeared in four episodes of Mayor of Kingstown as Davidson, and he played Grant Horton in Yellowstone season 5. Gerald is mostly known for small roles, such as one in Netflix’s Daredevil.
3 Michael Gaston
Mayor of Kingstown, Yellowstone
Michael Gaston isn’t technically a recurring actor in Taylor Sheridan’s lineup yet, but he will be soon. Gaston played Morass in two episodes of Mayor of Kingstown season 2, and he’s set to appear as Jack Laverty in an episode of Yellowstone season 5. Gaston is known mostly for TV shows like The Leftovers and The Man in the High Castle.
