Bad Sisters Season 3 Gets Doubtful Response From Star

Bad Sisters season 3 gets a doubtful response from star and co-creator Sharon Horgan. Developed by Horgan, Dave Finkel, and Brett Baer, the story takes place in Dublin. It focuses on Eva Garvey (Horgan) and her sisters as they find themselves right in the middle of a life insurance investigation following the mysterious death of her brother-in-law. Bad Sisters season 2 recently wrapped up its run on Apple TV+, showcasing what happens when the Garvey sisters get caught up in another dangerous situation.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter following the season 2 finale, along with executive producer Dearbhla Walsh, Horgan addressed the possibility of returning for another installment of the acclaimed Apple TV+ comedy. Horgan mentioned anthology dramas, such as HBO’s The White Lotus and Netflix’s Beef, but doubted that the Garveys could convincingly find themselves in another dangerous situation. Walsh agreed, joking about how many more people the main characters could kill. Their quotes are below:

Horgan: “You have shows like White Lotus, and I guess Beef is doing it, where you can start again with a whole new cast, and so you can go for it. But with these sisters, you have to believe that they can be in that situation again. Because the reason why the show works is because people believe their situation, and we could do what we wanted this time around, because it’s all the fallout of what happened in the first season,” Horgan said.

Walsh: “How many more people could we kill?”

Horgan: “I’m thinking all the time, and let’s see what happens. But that’s the tricky thing of it. You’ve got to really, really believe it could happen to these women again.”

It’s A Tough Balancing Act

The show’s second installment manages to sidestep the feasibility issue because it’s in conversation with the events that came before. The story picks up two years after the Bad Sisters season 1 ending, with the sisters wanting to turn over a new leaf but finding themselves in another situation where they’re questioned by the authorities. Horgan mentioned in the same interview that the idea for season 2 came in the process of making the first installment, revolving around how Grace (Anne-Marie Duff) couldn’t escape the cycle of abuse.

Horgan’s comments acknowledge that conundrum as well. But perhaps, if the viewership and interest are there, there will be a temptation to try Bad Sisters season 3 if the co-creator doesn’t rule it out completely.
