Denis Villeneuve Reveals His Favorite Quentin Tarantino Movie

Denis Villeneuve has revealed what his favorite Quentin Tarantino movie is. Villeneuve broke out in Hollywood many years after Tarantino, but he has since become one of the most acclaimed directors in the world. Denis Villeneuve’s best movies include Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and the Dune films. Villeneuve and Tarantino’s names have come up together a lot ever since the latter’s interesting response to Villeneuve’s Dune films.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Villeneuve reveals that Pulp Fiction is his favorite Tarantino movie. Tarantino emerged in Hollywood with his 1992 film Reservoir Dogs. Ever since, he has directed several iconic movies, such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Pulp Fiction. I saw that in a theater with a full audience when it came out, and still to this day, I remember the excitement of seeing that new voice coming out into the world. Of course, he had Reservoir Dogs before, but I had not seen that.

Villeneuve talking about Pulp Fiction stemmed from a question about Tarantino’s refusal to watch Villeneuve’s Dune movies. In October 2024, Tarantino stated that he has no interest in watching the new Dune films because he has already seen David Lynch’s 1984 Dune movie. This was less of a criticism of Villeneuve, and more of a criticism about the current state of Hollywood. Tarantino doesn’t like that so many remakes are being greenlit over original ideas.
