Deadpool & Wolverine not only brought Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to the TVA and the Void, but also introduced the first X-Men villain in the MCU: Charles Xavier’s twin sister, Cassandra Nova. Together with Matthew Macfayden’s Agent Paradox, Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova put the entire MCU multiverse in danger with a timeline-destroying machine called “the Time-Ripper”. Fortunately for the multiverse, Cassandra Nova and Paradox weren’t exactly on the same page when it came to using the weapon.

Abilities such as the Infinity Gauntlet’s reality-shaping power and Kilgrave’s mind control are especially brutal and creative, but none are as repulsing as Cassandra Nova’s ability to probe her enemies’ heads with her bare hands. Cassandra’s mind-reading powers are taken to another level thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine‘s VFX, which underline the physical discomfort felt by Cassandra’s victims when their facial features shift and morph as Cassandra moves her fingers.

Paradox remained dizzy for a while after Cassandra invaded his mind, and Wolverine seemed to be in extreme pain as he tried to stop Cassandra from going deeper into his memories when he entered her base in the Void. In Paradox’s case, the discomfort must have been double when Cassandra dragged his body on the ground while she held him like a puppet.

While Cassandra Nova is one of the most dangerous X-Men villains in the source material, she had never been nearly as famous as villains like Magneto, Apocalypse, or the Sentinels before her MCU debut. Deadpool & Wolverine did the character justice in terms of personality and backstory, and her abilities are remarkably memorable. After Deadpool & Wolverine, Cassandra Nova easily ranks among the most powerful and influential antagonists introduced in the Multiverse Saga, and all the cosplays and fan art based on her MCU design prove that.
