Tom & Jerry are returning in a big way, as two of the writers behind the Toy Story franchise and Rashida Jones are set to develop a theatrical feature film. Created by Hanna-Barbera in 1941, the slapstick duo has starred in over 166 animated shorts and several additional spin-offs. Two theatrical Tom & Jerry movies have been developed, including an animated feature in 1992 titled Tom and Jerry: The Movie, and a live-action/animation hybrid movie released in 2021.
As reported by Deadline, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has begun development on a new Tom & Jerry movie. Though no director has been announced, it has been confirmed that Jones will write alongside Will McCormack and Michael Govier. McCormack and Govier’s credits include Toy Story 4.
