Yuletide: Ebonyi lawmaker showcases unity in cultural carnival

A lawmaker representing Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo (OHAN IVO) federal constituency of Ebonyi state, Dr. Kama Nkemkanma, Friday displayed unity in cultural carnival.

Kama as a way of fostering unity among his constituent showcased both Igbo and foreign culture in the carnival.

The cultural carnival held at  Onicha Central school ,Egunkwo,Onicha local government area of the state displayed  traditional wrestling, masquerade display, cultural dance, carnival match among others.

Dr. Kama noted that the carnival which debut in December 2023 exhibited the bond that tied the constituency together.

He said, “it is both an honour and a privilege to stand before you on this remarkable occasion,?that showcases the spirit, culture, and unity of our beloved Constituency.

“Last year, we embarked on a journey with the maiden editzion of this Unity Carnival. It was a vision born out of our collective desire to strengthen the bonds that tie us together, celebrate our rich heritage, and create a platform for fostering collaboration and understanding among our people. The overwhelming turnout and successes recorded during the inaugural event proved that the Ohanivo Constituency is not just a collection of communities and villages but a family united by shared values and aspirations.

“This year, as we gather once again, we do so with renewed enthusiasm and an even greater commitment to unity, peace, and progress. The theme of this year’s carnival, “Celebrating Our Heritage, building Or Future Together, ”reflects our unwavering belief in the power of community and our determination to lay a solid foundation for generations to come.

“Permit me at this juncture to express my profound gratitude to our beloved Governor, * native Intelligence, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his exemplary leadership, continual supports and for providing fair and peaceful environment for us to operate and provide impactful representation to our people.

” The Ohanivo Unity Carnival is more than a celebration; it is a movement. It is a call to action for all of us to embrace our diversity as a strength and to work collectively for the advancement of our community. Through the vibrant displays of culture, music, dance, and art that we will witness today, let us be reminded of the richness of our heritage and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
