Fire razes Ibadan shops

Property worth millions of naira has been destroyed as a result of a fire incident that ravaged some shops in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the Tollgate area along the Lagos/ Ibadan expressway.

The incident according to sources occurred in the early hours of Friday.

Eye witnesses hinted that no fewer than four shops were affected by the inferno.

It was learnt that property worth millions of naira and other items have been destroyed.

No life was lost in the incident.

The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service Mr Yemi Akinyinka confirmed the development.

Akinyinka while reacting said the incident was reported to the agency around 5.50am.

He added that the fire was traced to a naked fire unattended by the woman cooking in one of the four shops affected by the fire.

He said, โ€œThe fire incident was reported to our agency at exactly 05:50hrs of Friday 3rd January, 2025.

โ€œThe four shops were destroyed by fire and multiple shops were saved from being affected by fire.

โ€œProperties worth millions of naira were affected by fire and shops together with materials worth billions were protected against devastating fire.

โ€œNo life was lost. The fire was traced to be a naked fire unattended to by the woman cooking in one of the four shops affected by the fireโ€.
