The Simpsons Season 36 & Other Fox Animated Shows Set Winter Premiere Dates

The Simpsons season 36 has set its winter premiere date along with other Fox shows. Fox has been the host network of The Simpsons ever since it originated as shorts on The Tracy Ullman Show in 1987. It then became its own independent show on December 17, 1989. Now, The Simpsons is the longest-running animated series in America, having been on air for almost four decades. The Simpsons season 36 premiered on September 29, 2024, and is currently in mid-season break after airing its twelfth episode on December 29.

Per Deadline, The Simpsons has now gotten a premiere date at Fox. The Simpsons season 36 will continue on Sunday, March 30. Also set to return are Family Guy, Grimsburg, The Great North, and Krapopolis. All four shows will come back on Sunday, February 16, with Family Guy season 23 at 8:00pm, Grimsburg season 2 at 8:30pm, The Great North season 5 at 9:00pm, and new episodes of Krapopolis season 2 at 9:30pm. The Simpsons will return to its traditional 8:00pm slot on March 30.

What This Means For Fox’s Animated Lineup

Fox Will Give The Newer Shows Time To Shine Too

The current Fox series lineup will create a high-powered animated night on Sunday evening for the network. Those interested in adult animation series can get a whole slew of them on a single night, starting when four of the series return on February 16. Smartly, Fox will also combine three season premieres (Family Guy season 23, Grimsburg season 2, and The Great North season 5) with one series returning from mid-series break (Krapopolis), encouraging the maximum audience reach.

The delay between these premieres and the return of The Simpsons season 36 will also give a chance for the other series to shine on their own before being overpowered by Homer and his crew. In season 23, Family Guy can still draw a lot of audiences itself, but the three shows that it shares the night with are newer in their tenures. Hopefully, enough people will tune in during the weeks between February 16 and March 30 that these other series can gain momentum.

Our Take On Fox’s Animated Lineup

It Is A Good Time For Adult Animation

While Family Guy will take over The Simpsons long-established timeslot, it is only temporary before new episodes return. Seeing Fox’s animated lineup for this winter is a good reminder of what an exciting time it is for adult animation right now. Fans of the medium will not have to rely on just Fox this winter, as Prime Video also premieres Invincible season 3 in February. Between this and the Fox shows, the winter is an active time for these animated series, including promising newer titles like Grimsburg and Krapopolis.
