With Andor season 2 less than two months away, Star Wars will soon have an opportunity to revisit the history of one of the best Sith Lords. The original Star Wars Expanded Universe, now known as “Legends,” featured many powerful Sith Lords throughout the Old Republic era. While some of these Sith still exist in the new Star Wars timeline, most have not been explored in detail.
However, Andor season 2 will return to the original rebel base on Yavin 4, a moon with extensive lore in Legends. More than one Sith Lord settled on Yavin 4 long before the Rebellion, and one Andor character is uniquely suited to divulge that history. Andor has generally avoided extensive far service so far, but addressing this would be satisfying for longtime readers and even apply to the show’s plot.
The Massassi Temples Are Tied To The Sith Lord Exar Kun
A fallen Jedi who waged war on the Republic
Although the Massassi temples would eventually serve as the headquarters of the Rebel Alliance, they were built 4,000 years earlier at the command of Exar Kun. A former Jedi who turned to the dark side, Exar Kun sought to learn the ways of the Sith, eventually corrupting his mind and setting him on a war path against the Republic. He enslaved the Massassi and ordered them to build temples that would help focus the dark side.

Despite being defeated by the Jedi, Exar Kun endured by bonding his spirit to the Massassi temples. After the Rebellion became the New Republic, Luke Skywalker converted the temples into a Jedi academy, leaving his students vulnerable to Exar Kun’s influence. Although newly trained, Luke’s students worked together to banish Exar Kun’s spirit, finally bringing an end to the Sith Lord.
Luthen Would Be The Perfect Person To Reveal The Temples’ History
A collector of rare artifacts who has traveled all over the galaxy
Not only is Andor season 2 returning to the Massassi temples on Yavin 4, but Luthen Rael is the ideal character to explain this history. Luthen is a collector of rare artifacts, which he used as a cover for rebel activities, so it would make sense for him to know Yavin 4’s historical significance. He carries a kyber crystal that likely dates back even further, and if he knows about Jedi history, then surely he knows of the Sith.
Perhaps Luthen will suggest Yavin 4 as the rebel headquarters after finding it in his travels. If he somehow knows Emperor Palpatine is a Sith Lord or suspects a connection to the Sith, Luthen would appreciate the irony of the rebels hiding from the Sith in one of their ancient temples. Andor season 2 may have more crucial things to focus on, but connecting the show to a legendary Star Wars Sith Lord would be a treat for fans.
