Jason Statham’s next action movie, A Working Man, is already thrilling. As Statham’s follow-up to The Beekeeper (2024), A Working Man will see Statham as Levon Cade, a former Royal Marine who now lives as a construction worker. After his boss’ daughter is kidnapped by human traffickers, Levon makes it his mission to rescue her. The movie is scheduled for a March 28 theatrical release. It was directed by David Ayer, who also worked with Statham on The Beekeeper.
In a new clip released by Amazon MGM Studios on YouTube, Levon takes part in an epic fight. While posing as a police officer, Levon enters Dutch’s lair and faces off against a biker gang. His fighting style is a brilliant departure from previous action movies and takes advantage of its environment. All the while, it showcases Levon’s willingness to kill anyone who stands in his way. What This New Clip Means For A Working Man
Nearly every Jason Statham action movie sees him as an everyday worker, who is eventually forced to turn to heroism. The movies feature intense action, thrilling fight sequences, and an exceptionally fast pace. Any Statham release hoping to distinguish itself from the rest is forced to do so by making the action even more incredible. The Dutch’s Lair clip is proof that his 2025 release will manage that perfectly.
If the action remains this intense throughout the movie, it should easily match The Beekeeper‘s $153 million box office total.
The choreography itself is stunning, as his interactions with the environment make for an ever-changing battlefield. Even without leaving the lair, he managed to interact with bottles, chairs, a bull’s skull, bare hands, and even the crowd. Every enemy that comes at him feels like a credible threat, even as he takes down each with ease. It makes his interaction with Dutch (Chidi Ajufo) even more rewarding when Dutch finally offers him a coveted deal. If the action remains this intense throughout the movie, it should easily match The Beekeeper‘s $153 million box office total.
Our Take On A Working Man’s New Clip
The Dialogue Could Be Slightly Shaky
The fighting is the highlight of the clip, as intended. After all, Amazon could have released a clip consisting of nothing but dialogue. Instead, it offered a fight scene with constant action and sickening injuries. The action is certainly exciting, but it is hard to ignore that the dialogue needs work. The “working man” quote feels like it was arbitrarily thrown in, likely to tie into the title. It doesn’t make much sense in context, as Dutch would have no idea if he is a working man or if he just uses the gym.
Still, the writing is not likely to be the most pressing issue in the movie. A Working Man‘s trailer already revealed the essence of its story and even a few glimpses of other fight scenes. The characters and the violent aspects are far more crucial to its success. There may be areas that need improvement, but the choreography should make up for that. A Working Man certainly has the potential to be Statham’s next big hit.
