Even though Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed who Hunter Doohan is playing in Daredevil: Born Again, there is one clear candidate as to who his mysterious MCU character is. Seven years after Marvel Television’s Daredevil series on Netflix was canceled, Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again has finally brought back the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Daredevil: Born Again’s intense double-premiere marked the return of many familiar faces from Daredevil, but the Phase 5 series has also already debuted some newcomers to the MCU, including a terrifying new villain.
Daredevil: Born Again’s impressive cast includes returning Defenders Saga stars such as Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, among others. The new series has already expanded the Daredevil franchise in some interesting ways, however. Wilson Fisk’s political career has been aided by a new team of hard-headed staff, Matt Murdock has a new firm and romantic interest, and a new villain is brewing in the background. With so many new characters, it’s strange that we don’t know exactly who Wednesday star Hunter Doohan is playing in Daredevil: Born Again.

Hunter Doohan’s MCU Character Hasn’t Yet Been Confirmed
Best known for his roles in Your Honor and Wednesday, in which he plays Hyde opposite Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams, Hunter Doohan’s casting in Daredevil: Born Again came as a surprise in episode 2, “Optics.” Doohan appeared as an unnamed character who met Margarita Levieva’s therapist Dr. Heather Glenn, Matt Murdock’s new love interest, at her book signing. Clearly distressed, Doohan’s character asks Glenn whether she’s accepting new clients, and she hands him her e-mail address, hinting that the pair may meet again in Born Again’s upcoming episodes.

Hunter Doohan’s casting in Daredevil: Born Again had been heavily theorized before the series’ premiere, as had his character, though Marvel Studios is yet to confirm who he’s playing. Doohan’s character is evidently troubled and is seeking professional help, which provides a major hint at who he might be playing in the Phase 5 revival series. Hunter Doohan is an exciting up-and-coming actor, so his MCU debut may create some fantastic new opportunities for him in and out of Marvel’s franchise, especially if he is confirmed to be a formidable and haunting new villain.
I’m Convinced Hunter Doohan Is Playing Muse In Daredevil: Born Again
Hunter Doohan Is Clearly A New Villain In The MCU
Muse is one of Marvel Comics’ darkest and most harrowing antagonists, so this would be a fantastic role for Hunter Doohan, who has previously appeared in a number of horror and thriller projects. Muse has been billed to be a major part of Born Again, so it makes sense that Marvel would want to cast a recognizable actor in the role. Psychopathic serial killer Muse has some serious problems to manage in Marvel Comics, which reflects Doohan’s clearly troubled appearance and attitude in Born Again, and his need for Heather Glenn’s assistance.
On that note, Heather Glenn has already acquired two very important new clients in Daredevil: Born Again, as she is now the couple’s counselor for Wilson and Vanessa Fisk. It makes sense that she would begin treating yet another significant character in the series, and this seems to be taking the form of Hunter Doohan’s Muse. The jump from Tyler Galpin in Wednesday to Muse in Born Again isn’t a very big one, so there’s practically no shadow of a doubt that Hunter Doohan is portraying the formidable new MCU villain in Daredevil: Born Again.
Who Is Marvel Villain Muse & How Does He Fit Into Daredevil: Born Again?
Muse Is One Of Marvel’s Most Terrifying Antagonists
Muse is perhaps the most unhinged and enigmatic villain ever seen in Marvel Comics, to the point that not even his true name and identity is known. Muse made his Marvel Comics debut in 2016’s Daredevil (Vol. 5) #11 as a superpowered serial killer who carries out shocking and unimaginable mass murders, abductions and tortures as a form of art, sometimes even using his victims’ bodies and innards as his medium. He is an Inhuman in Marvel Comics, whose body acts as a vortex to sensory information, making him incredibly hard to track.
It’s unclear whether Daredevil: Born Again’s Muse will be an Inhuman, as Marvel Studios has practically ignored the superpowered species, even after Earth-838’s variant of Black Bolt appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Muse acts not only as an antagonist to Daredevil in Marvel Comics, but also Wilson Fisk, painting giant murals of graffiti in support of New York City’s vigilantes and heroes while Kingpin wants to bring them down. It seems this will also be the case in the MCU, as Muse was briefly seen painting graffiti of Mayor Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again, and his work has also been seen in the series’ trailers. Muse will seemingly be closely connected to Matt Murdock’s story, opposing Kingpin and being treated by Heather Glenn, so his MCU debut is very exciting.
