I'm Officially Nervous About The Way Reacher Season 3 Keeps Foreshadowing That Huge Gun

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Reacher season 3’s episode 5.

I have noticed that Reacher season 3 keeps foreshadowing a massive gun from Zachary Beck’s guardhouse, making me nervous about how it will be used in future episodes. While viewers familiar with the original Lee Child Jack Reacher books may be able to foresee what will happen in the Amazon Prime Video detective series’ upcoming episodes, others might find it hard to predict what the future holds for Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher in season 3. So far, the show seems to have done an incredible job of keeping viewers on their toes by revealing one twist after another.

Reacher season 3’s episode 5 also features a brief confrontation between Jack Reacher and Paulie, which confirms that the stakes have never been higher for the titular character. Although the show has offered a lot to look forward to with its subtle fight setups and story reveals, one of its most intriguing developments revolves around a gun. It keeps featuring shots of a massive gun at the entrance of Beck’s home, making it hard not to wonder how it will eventually tie into the show’s overarching narrative.

Reacher Season 3 Keeps Highlighting The Massive Gun In The Guardhouse

The Show Has Called Attention To The Gun On More Than One Occasion

For some reason, Reacher season 3 keeps focusing on the massive gun in the guardhouse outside Zachary Beck’s home. Even season 3’s episode 5 highlights the gun when Jack Reacher returns to Beck’s mansion after helping Villanueva kill one of Beck’s bodyguards. Although Reacher does not seem to think about using the gun, the show’s continued emphasis on it creates a looming sense of tension, hinting that it will come in handy for the main character in a future story arc. So far, Reacher has avoided raising any suspicion from Beck and his men.

While the Alan Ritchson character has made some mistakes, he has avoided blowing his cover. However, Reacher season 3’s episode 5 establishes that the titular character is gradually getting closer to the heart of Beck and Quinn’s operation, with the proximity increasing the risk. With the growing risk, Reacher will have to carefully navigate his surroundings and ensure he completes his mission before the villains find out the truth about his identity and get him out of their way. He will eventually have to resort to extreme measures, which is where the gun will come into play.

Reacher Could Overcome His Biggest Challenge In Season 2 WIth The Gun

Reacher had the support of his former team members from the 110th Special Investigation Unit in season 2. Even in season 1, Neagley and Roscoe were almost always by his side. Neagley, too, showed up to help him towards the end of Reacher season 1. In Reacher season 3, however, he is all by himself. Even though he is working with two DEA agents, they are only operating from a distance, and it will take them a while to reach him if he lands in trouble.

Owing to this, when things go south, and Reacher finds himself outnumbered by the bad guys, he will need a solid weapon at his disposal to fend for himself. This is when he could use the massive gun from the guardhouse to single-handedly take down many bad guys before the DEA agents arrive with backup. However, given how Paulie usually stays in the guardhouse, the Alan Ritchson character will have to first get through Paulie in Reacher season 3, which, after episode 5, seems like a nearly impossible task.
