However, there is so much Hart unpacks in her bonus content that gives readers a lot of insight into the second book’s premise, and I believe hints to what the author has planned for book two.

Two of Hart’s bonus chapters reveal the moments that earned Kingfisher the title of “Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate“, and both recount in detail how he was able to defeat Malcom’s horde of feeders and vanquish the legendary dragon, Omnashacry—who is referred to in Quicksilver to have been the last of his kind. However, it’s during these chapters that Hart draws a significant correlation between the word “brimstone” and the dragon itself—using it 19 times to describe both the smell of the dragon’s breath and the lethal fire it spewed.

From the Quicksilver sequel’s synopsis, it seems that both Kingfisher and Saeris will be separated for much of the second book in the Fae & Alchemy series — as Saeris will now have to adjust to her newfound role as Queen of Sansaroth, while Kingfisher will be sent on a mission to Zilvaren. Knowing this and Hart’s likely plan to reintroduce a dragon threat to the narrative, it’s possible one of the two will be left to face it alone — which could either serve as a thrilling action sequence throughout the narrative or an emotional goodbye to one of Quicksilver‘s best characters.

Fourth Wing is hard to follow because of its well-balanced fantasy and romance elements, but there are a few great books that share similar themes.
While Kingfisher has proved himself capable of defeating a dragon once before — as seen in the bonus chapters — it would be almost too repetitive for Hart to have him do so successfully again. Instead, I believe Hart may use the threat of another dragon to further stretch and grow Saeris’ alchemical abilities. However, it’s also possible that Hart could take the series in another direction and see both dragons and fae coexist peacefully for the first time. Either way, it’s rather obvious that dragons will be reintroduced to the narrative and play a major role in the Quicksilver sequel.
