Star Wars just featured some exciting teases for Andor season 2. During a livestream event looking back at Andor season 1 with showrunner Tony Gilroy, a few nuggets of information were given about the second and final season of the popular series that will lead to the beginning of Rogue One. As such, we did learn a few cool things about what to expect when Andor season 2 premieres on April 22nd.
During the Andor season 1 livestream which took place on Star Wars’ YouTube, Gilroy was joined by actors Adria Arjona (Bix Caleen), Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), and Duncan Pow (Ruescott Melshi). There was also a special message at the end from Cassian Andor’s Diego Luna:
Looking back on favorite moments and behind-the-scenes during the filming of both seasons of Andor, a few exciting tidbits were revealed about the growing pockets of resistance across the galaxy that will fully form into the Rebel Alliance in Andor season 2. In particular, there were a few notable hints about Bix and Mon Mothma’s future roles, as well as the confirmation that Melshi and Andor’s goodbye following their escape from Narkina 5 will have some key implications for Melshi’s return in the new season.
The Relationship Between Cassian & Bix Will Evolve
Becoming A Dynamic and Capable Partner to Cassian
Around the 21-minute mark of the livestream and right after Adria Arjona signs off, Gilroy confirms that Bix Caleen is set to have a much bigger role in Andor season 2. In the first season of Andor, she and Cassian were deliberately kept apart. While Cassian found himself imprisoned on Narkina 5, Bix was being tortured by the ISB on Ferrix.

Andor Season 2: Trailer, Story, Updates, & Everything We Know
Andor season 1 ended with an explosive finale, leading many to wonder what season 2 has in store for the characters of Star Warsโ most exciting show.
However, it was hinted that Andor and Bix will now be much more of a team as resistance against the Imperial regime continues to grow. It should be very exciting to learn how Bix might fit into the great Alliance organization. Seeing how she’ll be working alongside Cassian, perhaps Bix will also be recruited as an agent for Rebel Intelligence in Andor season 2.
Mon Mothma Will Step Out Of The Shadows
“Will The Real Mon Mothma Please Stand Up?”
Around the 31-minute mark, it’s confirmed that Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma will indeed be forced out of the shadows, no longer able to hide behind the facade where she was acting like a dutiful member of the Imperial Senate. To that end, it’s also teased that Mothma will have to pay the price for her decisions and exposure. Her family was hinted as having to face the consequences of Mon siding and becoming a leader of the Rebellion as well, particularly when it comes to her daughter, Leida.
During the livestream, O’Reilly references back to the scene in Andor season 1 where her character says she isn’t the Mon Mothma everybody thinks she is. As such, it sounds like this moment served to be some effective foreshadowing. Now, Andor season 2 will reveal the real Mon Mothma to the galaxy, one who becomes a key leader of the Rebel Alliance and eventually Chancellor of the New Republic once the Empire is defeated following the events of the original trilogy.
Andor season 2 premieres April 22nd on Disney+ with three episodes being released each week.
