The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has advised waterway users to exercise caution to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel on the state’s inland waterways as the rainy season sets in.
In a statement on Tuesday, LASWA General Manager, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, called for vigilance among boat and ferry operators as well as boat associations, unions, clubs, tourists, and passengers.
“This season comes with increased water volume, unstable currents and foggy weather conditions that significantly reduce visibility and complicate navigation. These factors heighten the risk of accidents on the waterways, and to mitigate these risks, LASWA strongly advises the following safety measures,” Emmanuel said.

Emmanuel also urged passengers to remain alert and proactive, and encouraged them to report any unsafe practices or non-compliance to LASWA officials or through its official communication channels.
