The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working round the clock to implement policies to ensure the youth are happy and that Nigeria is great.
Speaking Saturday in Abuja, during an event organised by the Youth Progressive Empowerment Initiative (YPEI), Bishop Adegbite advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used by disgruntled elements to foment trouble or destabilise the country.
He said: “Nigeria is moving forward and we will continue to work assiduous to ensure that we have a wonderful country. The agenda of Mr. President is to ensure that everyone is happy and nobody will be cheated. That is why he asked us to go back to the old national anthem, a place where no man is not allowed to be oppressed. So there is no room for violence in our country, and all of us must never suffer such anywhere we find ourselves.
“You should be able to live anywhere and go to anywhere and God will continue to be with all of us. We will not be deceived by disgruntled elements who want to destabilize our great nation. That is why I am particularly interested in being with you today. We are going to work much together and we are going to work for the progress of our country.
“While we were growing up, we used to travel by road in the nights. Good night, Lagos. Good morning, Kaduna. Good night, Lagos. Good morning, Enugu. But these days, nobody is doing that anymore because of insecurity. But we are going to go back to those days and Nigeria will be great again. There will be total restoration of our great country. So let us continue to work together. Pray for Mr. President and everyone in position of authority.”
Also speaking, Convener of Youth Progressive Empowerment Initiative (YPEI), Comrade Prince Barnabas Ishaya, said the youth have the potential to lead the course for a greater Nigeria if they can channel their energy to the right cause and positive endeavours.
He said: “The need for initiatives and programs such as this can never be overemphasized, especially at this point in time of our national development. The youth in Nigeria today form more than 75% of the country’s population.
“Therefore, without mincing words, the youth have the potential to lead the course for a greater Nigeria if only their energies can be channeled on the right course and given the background foundation, mentorship, skills, opportunities, and empowerment such as what the Youths Progressive Empowerment Initiative is all about.
“Youths in Nigeria today, lack the opportunities they need to harness their energies for a better Nigeria. They lack training opportunities, access to resources to develop micro and small scale industries without the unbearable and impossible collaterals imposed by funding agencies today. With more industries, there will be more job opportunities for many more youths.
“Investing in youths today, there education, capacity building, empowerment schemes, ete. will take Nigeria out of the economic quagmire that it has found itself in.”
