The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma, led a delegation of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to City Primary and Secondary School, Owerri, to mark the PCRC’s 41st anniversary.
The visit focused on educating students about the dangers of cultism and drug abuse while enhancing police-community relations.
Accompanied by the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, and other senior officials, the outreach was part of a nationwide celebration.
According to the Command’s Spokesperson, Henry Okoye, interactive sessions were held to raise awareness and promote strong community partnerships.
He said the CP, while addressing over 500 students, stressed the importance of youth in nation-building and warned against cultism and substance abuse, urging students to focus on their education and become role models for their families and the state.
PCRC Imo State Chairman, Mr Chima Chukwunyere, on his part, encouraged students to be agents of positive change and also called on principals to establish PCRC clubs in schools to teach good morals and the importance of reporting crime.
ACP Michael Abattam, Area Commander of Owerri Metro, spoke on the risks of cultism, drug abuse, and antisocial behaviour. He urged students to avoid crime and contribute positively to Imo State and the nation.
The Principal of Citi Secondary School, Mrs Ikwunezi ACN, thanked the delegation, describing the session as “eye-opening and empowering”. She praised their proactive approach and promised continued support.
