The Presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
Naija News reports that the clarification was made known in a statement on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The Presidency stated that reports claiming Tinubu has replaced Akume are untrue.
According to the statement, the reports were fabricated by agents of mischief.
The statement titled โAkume remains SGFโ, reads: โThere has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
โPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
โThe information circulating about Akumeโs replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.
โThe Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news.โ
Naija News reports that this is coming 24 hours after the sudden resignation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ganduje had cited the need to take care of his health as his reason for stepping down from his position.
