Police Arrest 11 Kidnap Suspects In Anambra

No fewer than 11 suspects have been arrested by police operatives following their complicity in kidnapping incidents in the Uli and Nimo areas of Anambra State.

The Anambra Police Command on Sunday revealed how one Muanaenye Victor, 24, lured his friend and kidnapped him for ransom.

According to a statement by the command, issued on Sunday, Victor had asked his friend to escort him to see another friend.

Victor, having mapped out the kidnap plan alongside his criminal gang โ€” orchestrated their (both Victor and his friend) abduction to avoid suspicion.

The police said the gang demanded ransom in dollars, an equivalent of N5.3m before the victim gained freedom.

The statement, however, noted that Victor has been arrested and โ€œis now cooperating with the policeโ€ while โ€œproviding information to help apprehend his accomplicesโ€.

Meanwhile, the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu has arrested 10 suspects over a lifeless body of an alleged kidnapped victim near a piggery farm at Nimo.

The arrest on June 28 followed an ongoing investigation of the recovered corpse on June 23.

The victim, later identified as Ozor Chido was allegedly abducted on June 19 at his piggery farm in Nimo.

โ€œWhile the suspects are still undergoing interrogation over the incident, the Operatives are ready to proceed to the next line of action after processing the information as directed by CP Ikioye Orutugu,โ€ the police said on Sunday.
