Hector Ekeakita, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ahoada-East Council of Rivers State fingered in the assault of the council Sole Administrator, Goodluck Iheamnacho, has denied any involvement in the attack.
The denial came following the state Police Command reacted to a viral video that captured moments when the Sole Administrator was being violently assaulted, therefore inviting Ekeakita and the Chief of Staff to Iheamnacho for questioning.
The state commissioner of Police CP Olugbenga Adepoju, who condemned the act, assured that justice will take its course.
Earlier, the Command’s Spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement strongly condemned violent attack on Hon. Iheamnacho, On June 20, 2025, at approximately 1:40 pm.
She noted that a group of about 30 hoodlums, led by Mr. Hector Ekeakita, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and the Chief of Staff (COS) to the sole administrator, stormed the Council Secretariat and attacked Iheanachor.
She explained that during the attack, the hoodlums assaulted the Sole Administrator, stole his mobile phones, forced him to sign a letter purporting his resignation, and carted away vital documents, including official and personal documents from his office.
She further stated that Iheanachor is currently undergoing medical treatment due to injuries sustained during the violent attack and is reported to be in stable condition.
The Rivers State Police Command has taken swift action, with Commissioner of Police CP Olugbenga Adepoju visiting the scene of the attack alongside heads of other sister security agencies in the state.
Consequently, the CP has directed Ekakita, the COS, and all individuals involved in the attack to report to the Police State Headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, for questioning.
The Commissioner of Police warned that failure to comply with the invitation will attract severe consequences, emphasizing the Command’s resolute pursuit of justice.
However, Ekakita has denied any involvement in the attack, claiming that he was not present at the scene and that his name is being maliciously dragged into the matter.
According to Ekakita, a group of youths from the Local Government Area visited Iheanachor to express their concerns about the council’s management and alleged misappropriation of funds.
Ekakita stated that he did not mobilize any individuals to attack Iheanachor and that he only witnessed the aftermath of the incident.
Although he made serious allegations against Iheanachor, accusing him of misappropriating funds and mismanaging the council’s resources.
Ekakita claimed that Iheanachor declared lower amounts than the actual allocations received by the council, citing specific examples of discrepancies in the April and May allocations.
Ekakita also alleged that Iheanachor was mingling with a group known as the “Simplified group” and attempting to employ one of its members, Fabian Braide, in the council.
Ekakita described this as a “barbaric act” and questioned Iheanachor’s motives.
Ekeakita, in an interview explained: ” I never carried hoodlums to attack Mr Goodluck Iheamnacho. What happened is that the youths of the LGA that came to visit him, to ask him why he had refused to take care of the council, Sanitation and paying of security and also under paying of political appointees.
So, as a CSO, I only saw people that entered into his office and also came out. So, whosoever that is mentioning my name is just trying to allege. I was not at the scene of the crime. I never mobilized any person. If the youths came to ask him what he was doing with the Simplified people event to the extent carrying a CV of One Fabian Braide which he lodge at a hotel for three days for him to employ in the council.
“It is a barbaric act. So the youths approached him and asked what is happening, I do not know what transpired there with him and the youths, only for me to see that he signed his resignation, so what is my business?
“I did not have any hand in all these this things. He knows those that came to that did that to him. We have hoodlums then the LGA is peaceful? Has anybody heard of any shoot, kidnapping in the LGA since I assume office?”
He added: “So, if he is saying that I came with 30 hoodlums, how would I accommodate that number? Can his office contain 30 hoodlums. He knows the kind of words he used on the youths that made them descend on him. He is very arrogant.
“He doesn’t respect anybody in the LGA. Whatsoever that happened there I was not in the picture.he should be able to tell the truth.
“The April allocation was 800million, he declared 700 million. May allocation was 600million aside the excess crude of hundred and something million he declared 500,million, who is deceiving who?
“Political appointees payment short paid, if they confront a leader, and he decided to ridicule those people and then they have confrontation and started pushing each other, how am I in the picture?
“The CP should properly check this thing and let my name not be ringing in the news. I only reported what I saw in the that council that day. So whether video or no video, I am not after that.
“What I am after is, the few months that I have worked, the misappropriation of funds, and keeping g Ahoada-East in a filthy state and mingling with the Simplified group to the extent of wanting to employ a Simplified youth.
“The CP should also call him to order and investigate him..for the 2 months that we have stayed in office, what we have is only 41 million naira.”
