The Adamawa State Police Command has condemned fresh attacks in Lafiya and Boshikiri villages, situated in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas of the state.
The command described the attacks, which occurred on Wednesday, as “mischief by fire.”
It confirmed that unknown persons set ablaze several thatched huts in both villages, leading to significant property loss.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the arsonists targeted properties belonging to Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth in Lafiya and Mr. Nura Haruna in Boshikiri.
The attacks come amid recurring tensions in the area, which have become a near-annual trend during the farming season along the border of the two local governments.
In response, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris has ordered an immediate and discreet investigation. He also directed the deployment of police personnel to both locations to forestall further violence and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The police warned that anyone found inciting unrest or involved in criminal activity would face strict legal consequences.
The command also urged residents to maintain calm, cooperate with security operatives, and promptly report suspicious activity for swift police action.
