The Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, has urged the 17 Mayors of Abia State to provide timely and credible information to avoid shielding criminal suspects in their various local governments.
CP Isa who disclosed this on Wednesday in a meeting alongside members of his management team appealed to the Mayors to work closely with youth leaders and landlords to ensure proper screening of prospective tenants before renting out properties.
The meeting which was held in collaboration with the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Uzor Nwachukwu, was aimed at strengthening grassroots security coordination.
During the meeting, CP Danladi Isa expressed appreciation to the mayors for meeting with him and acknowledged the support the Command has received from His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti in fighting crime and criminality in the state.
He reaffirmed the Commandโs support for the mayors in their respective domains but emphasized that security is a collective responsibility.
The CP reminded the mayors, who are the Chief Security Officers of their localities, of the importance of close collaboration with the Police through their respective Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders.
He reiterated the Commandโs commitment to professionalism, integrity, and justice, stressing that acts of misconduct and unprofessionalism by officers will not be tolerated. CP Isa encouraged the mayors to trust and have confidence in the Police in order to work together to make Abia State a safe haven for all.
