Veteran Nigerian music Icon, Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia, has stirred up a public debate once again with his bold controversial statement on male sexuality and monogamy.
Speaking recently on the latest episode of the 234 Mzansi podcast hosted by Ani Emmanuel known as ‘Nedu Wazobia’ and others, the 49-year-old singer argued that it is nearly impossible for a man to remain sexually involved with just one woman even if he is deeply in love.
“I’ve said this before, and I got into trouble for it, but I don’t care to say it again. Man was not built to be sexually with just one woman. A man’s heart, respect, and love can belong to one woman, but sexually, it’s impossible for a man,” 2Baba stated, nothing that inasmuch as some men can choose to be faithful, the natural instinct often pushes otherwise, leading to many trouble.
“A man can genuinely love a woman completely but still find it difficult to be with only her sexually. Some individuals may choose to live differently, but I’m talking about the natural biology of a man,’ he added.
The award-winning artiste further stressed that it’s okay if anyone wants to argue with him, but maintained that a man can deeply love a woman, but when it comes to sexual satisfaction, it’s hard, due to the man’s biology.
He added, “A man has many seeds and can’t just drop them for one woman.”
His comments, coming amid ongoing public curiosity about his personal relationships, particularly his past marriage to actress Annie Idibia, have since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions across social media.
While some agree with his perspective on human nature, others have criticised the statement as an excuse for infidelity.
On February 13, THE WHISTLER reports that 2Baba proposed to his new lover, Hon. Natasha Osawaru, barely three weeks after announcing the crash of his 12-year marriage with Annie Macauley.
The singer confirmed his split from Annie, his wife of over a decade on January 26, 2025.
Annie and 2Baba had been together for over two decades. She reportedly met 2Baba when she was 15 years old. The duo tied the knot in Dubai in 2013 and have two children together.
However, in his interview, he urged couples to be honest about their struggles and not remain in broken marriages because of societal pressure, emphasizing that he pays no mind to online opinions about him. He also added that his only concern is the wellbeing of his children.
