Officials of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), have pleaded with the former Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, to dump the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
TheTimes Nigeria learnt that Kwankwaso was wooed during a closed-door meeting with the NDC National Deputy Chairman, Muhammad Rabiu Sabo Bakin.
Bakin paid Kwankwaso a courtesy visit alongside the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Ahmad Waya.
According to Daily Post, the duo told the former Governor of Kano State, during the meeting, that he should not remain in the ADC because of the party’s leadership crisis.
Bakin also told Kwankwaso that the NDC is fully prepared to receive him along with his massive supporters and to grant them whatever positions they desire within the party.
Meanwhile, NDC has disowned a social media account on 𝕏 accused of issuing statements on behalf of the party without authorisation.
The disclaimer followed widespread reactions to posts by an unofficial handle, @NDCNigNews, which claimed the party had offered its 2027 presidential ticket to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The posts generated significant media attention and speculation about possible political realignments ahead of the next general election.
In a statement issued on Monday, the party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, clarified that only official communication channels should be trusted.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all official communications of the party are released only through our verified and recognized platforms, as well as through duly authorized officials of the party,” the statement read.
Dickson listed the party’s verified social media handles and website as the only credible sources of information.
