The Gombe State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office.
The party members demanded the resignation of INEC chairman, Joash Amupitan,
The protesters were seen carrying banners with the inscription, ‘Amupitan: Resign before the street resigns you’.
TheTimes Nigeria reports that ADC members have held peaceful demonstrations across the country, calling for Amupitan’s resignation.
The INEC boss was accused of having ties with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, following the recent discovery of an alleged X account linked to him.
Meanwhile, veteran Nollywood actor cum lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has disclosed that they are eagerly awaiting the Supreme Court’s final ruling on the leadership tussle affecting the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The ADC chieftain shared a video of himself from the Supreme Court building, already seated and awaiting the arrival of the Judges
Tagging the video ‘Judgement Day’, he described the expected ruling of the apex court as a judgment on the survival of democracy in Nigeria.
He wrote: “JUDGEMENT DAY.”
“We are already at the Supreme Court this 30th Day of April 2026, awaiting the judgement on the survival of democracy in Nigeria.”
TheTimes Nigeria recalls that the Supreme Court is set to deliver judgment today, 30th April 2026, in the leadership disputes rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a decision expected to shape the future of both opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The cases, listed under political appeals, are scheduled for judgment at 2 pm.
The PDP case has an appeal number SC/CV/166/2026, while the ADC matter is marked SC/CV/180/2026.
Ahead of the verdict, leaders of the ADC reportedly held an emergency strategic meeting on Wednesday night to review possible outcomes of the judgment and agree on the next line of action for the opposition coalition.
