A High Court in Anambra State has sentenced a man to death by hanging for the murder of his father following a domestic dispute.
The convict, Ifeanyi Anizoba Jr., was found guilty of killing his father, Ifeanyi Anizoba.
Delivering judgment in Awka, Justice Chukwudi Okaa ruled that the prosecution successfully proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on December 24, 2019, at Nodu Village in Awka.
The court heard that during a disagreement, the defendant allegedly pushed his father, causing him to hit his head against a wall and lose consciousness.
Evidence presented in court showed that the victim was left unattended for two days without medical care.
The defendant reportedly confined his father in a room, where he remained until neighbours noticed a foul smell and raised the alarm.
The body was later discovered by family members.
The prosecution, led by Chiamaka Chukwuka, called three witnesses, including a relative of the deceased, a police investigator, and a medical doctor who conducted the autopsy.
The defence, however, denied responsibility for the death and presented two witnesses.
The defendant, who initially lacked legal representation, was later assigned a lawyer through the public defender’s office.
After reviewing the evidence, Justice Okaa concluded that the prosecution’s case was credible and consistent.
He subsequently convicted the defendant and imposed the death penalty by hanging.
