Armed bandits on Wednesday, struck Musa Parapura farm settlement along Venra-Tenebo road in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, DAILY POST reports.
According to security sources, during the attack which occurred at 02:00hours, the owner of the farm settlement identified as Musa Parapura was abducted and one of the labourers, a Republic of Benin citizen working on the farm was shot dead.
The deceased, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, had reportedly just arrived at the farm settlement on Tuesday from his home country.
According to Sariki Samari of Venra community, the kidnappers used the victim’s mobile phone to contact his family and demanded a ransom of N20m cash, and two brand new Haojue motorcycles for the release of the farm owner.
DAILY POST gathered that upon receipt of the information, a joint team comprising Police operatives, other security agencies, and local vigilantes was immediately mobilized.
The joint patrol team has commenced a search-and-rescue operation in the surrounding bush and forest areas to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
Sources revealed that the crime scene was visited and documented, while pictorial evidence of the deceased labourer was obtained.
Investigation is ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased, track the suspects, and secure the safe release of the kidnapped victim and forestall further occurrence.
