Éric Chelle has confirmed that discussions over the financial terms of his contract are ongoing with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), but says his full attention remains on managing the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Super Eagles boss, whose current deal runs until January 2027, revealed that his representative is handling negotiations while he concentrates on preparations following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco earlier this year.
Speaking to journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Eric Chelle acknowledged the ongoing talks but made it clear his priority remains on the pitch.
“Yes, there are financial issues to be discussed and resolved. But I leave them to my agent to handle with the federation,” Obayiuwana quoted Chelle as saying on 𝕏.
“I want to concentrate on the job and the task at hand.”
The comments arrive amid growing attention around Chelle’s future after Nigeria’s recent progress, with reports linking him to interest from other teams. Despite the speculation, the coach insists his focus is firmly on the next set of assignments.
Chelle is set to begin a fresh round of scouting across the Nigeria Premier Football League as he reshapes the squad ahead of the Unity Cup in London.
“I am coming to Nigeria to watch some NPFL games and see some players and we have the Unity Cup in London to prepare for,” Chelle added.
Nigeria will open their title defence against Zimbabwe at The Valley on Tuesday, May 26. Victory would set up a clash with either Jamaica or India in the next round.
