More than 40 ambassador-designates on Monday commenced their induction programme in Abuja, ahead of their deployment to various countries across the world.
The induction exercise, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is designed to prepare the envoys for their diplomatic assignments.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the new ambassadors to serve as the “Face of Nigeria abroad,” urging them to vigorously promote economic diplomacy, attract foreign investments, and ensure the protection and welfare of Nigerians in their respective host countries.
The programme is expected to equip the diplomats with the necessary skills and tools in the areas of trade promotion, security cooperation, and consular services, all in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The induction programme is scheduled to conclude on Friday.
