Former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has described the visit of Senator Solomon Adeola, the consensus candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC for Ogun governorship election to his residence in Abeokuta, the state capital as home as thoughtful and bold gesture.
Obasanjo who contested the APC 2027 governorship ticket with Adeola said this in a statement published on her social media handle late Tuesday while announcing the visit.
She had after the emergence of Adeola as the consensus candidate complained that her supporters were assaulted at the venue of the event.
However, the daughter of Nigeria’s former President said the visit of Adeola and other leaders of the party to his residence was a reflection of shared commitment to unity, inclusiveness and the progress of ‘our great party’.
She noted that the APC consensus governorship candidate was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy governor of Ogun State, Salmot Badru and other chieftains of the party, including elected lawmakers.
She also said her engagement with Adeola, and members of the team was frank, constructive and forward-looking.
“It reaffirmed our collective resolve to work together in unity, strengthen our party structures and deliver meaningful leadership to the good people of Ogun State.
“As I have always maintained, I am a woman of my word. I remain fully committed to our party’s decision and will continue to support every effort that advances cohesion, inclusion and electoral success.
“Together, we move forward, stronger, united and focused.

Today, I had the honour of receiving the APC consensus candidate, @AdeolaYAYI Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and his distinguished delegation at my residence in Abeokuta.
I sincerely appreciate this thoughtful and bold gesture, which reflects a shared commitment to unity, inclusiveness and the progress of our great party.
I also acknowledge and thank respected authorities who accompanied him, including Her Excellency Salmot Badru, Chief Derin Odebiyi, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, Chief (Mrs.) Iyabo Apampa, Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan, Hon. Jamiu Akande Omoniyi, Senator Lekan Mustapha, Chief Segun Seriki, Chief Segun Adesegun, Hon. Tola Banjo, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan, Hon. Bisi Oyedele, Hon.
