German car giant Mercedes-Benz has reportedly filed a complaint with the Carabinieri accusing Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen of failing to complete payments for a leased vehicle.
Victor Osimhen remains one of the most feared forwards in world football, having thrived across Belgium, France, Italy and Turkey. His finest moments came in both Serie A and the Süper Lig, where he won league titles with Napoli and Galatasaray.
During four years in Naples, Osimhen led Napoli to their first Scudetto in nearly 40 years, cementing his place among the club’s modern legends. His subsequent move to Galatasaray last summer came with a record-breaking financial package that made him the highest-paid player in Turkish top-flight history.
The striker reportedly earns more than €20 million per year, a salary reflected in his lavish lifestyle and generosity. Only last weekend, he funded a trip for Nigerian supporters to Istanbul for the derby against Fenerbahce, scoring in a commanding 3-0 win.
Yet fresh reports from Italian outlet Napolista claim the forward is facing a legal headache. The publication says Mercedes-Benz alerted authorities over an outstanding debt tied to a vehicle leased in 2023. The company alleges the purchase was never completed and the car has not been returned.
The claim suggests the 27-year-old has accumulated a debt of about €90,000, roughly ₦142 million. The figure is modest compared with his weekly earnings, which have soared since his title-winning campaign in Italy.
Osimhen is known for his taste in luxury, recently showing a collection that included cars from Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, alongside a Mercedes-Benz believed to be the vehicle at the centre of the dispute.
At the time of writing this report, the representatives have yet to comment publicly on the development.
