Nigerian Air Force Bombs Insurgents’ Camps In North-East

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed terrorist hideouts in Ali Sheriffti, a known insurgent enclave in the southern Tumbuns area of North-East Nigeria.

TheTimes Nigeria reports that the operation, carried out on April 24, was confirmed in a statement issued by the NAF spokesperson, Ehimen Ejodame.

Ejodame said the airstrikes followed credible intelligence reports on terrorist activities within the area.

According to him, NAF air assets conducted a targeted surveillance operation, during which several insurgents were observed moving along concealed routes.

He noted that the suspects were trailed to structures hidden beneath dense vegetation, suggesting deliberate efforts to evade detection.

The spokesperson explained that after confirming the targets, the Air Force carried out a precise bombardment of the identified locations.

“Following positive identification, the NAF executed a precise strike, engaging the structures with onboard munitions.

“The operation achieved the desired effect, with terrorist structures destroyed, further degrading their capability and freedom of movement in the area,” he said.

Ejodame said the latest operation underscored the Air Force’s continued reliance on intelligence-driven and precision-based missions aimed at denying insurgents safe havens.

He added that the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, had reaffirmed the military’s resolve to sustain the offensive against terrorist groups.

“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with unwavering precision and relentless force, ensuring no enclave remains beyond our reach,” the Air Chief was quoted as saying.

The NAF leadership further assured Nigerians that air operations would be intensified in the coming weeks to enhance national security and protect lives and property.

“Operations will continue with increased intensity to safeguard the nation and its citizens,” Ejodame added.

TheTimes Nigeria reports that the Tumbuns region, located around the Lake Chad fringes, has long been identified as a stronghold for insurgent groups due to its difficult terrain and dense vegetation, which provide cover for militant activities.
