Police Arrest Four Suspected Bandits, Recover AK-47 Rifles in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested four suspected bandits and recovered a cache of firearms and ammunition in a successful intelligence-led operation in Kaduna State.

The suspects, Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40), were nabbed on March 7, 2026, in Tayu community, Sanga Local Government Area, by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).

Items recovered from the suspects include:

Four AK-47 rifles with magazines 

80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition 

One locally fabricated pistol with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition

 

Preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to banditry and other violent criminal activities in the region.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication. 

He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to intensifying efforts against banditry and other forms of criminality to ensure the safety of lives and property across the country.

The suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations.
