Pope Leo XIV blasts war leaders, calls them ‘thieves of the future’

Pope Leo XIV has strongly criticized world leaders who promote war and damage the environment.

He described them as “thieves of the future” because, according to him, they are stealing peace and stability from the next generation.

He made this statement during his weekly Angelus address on Sunday. The Pope said that people who cause wars and waste natural resources are harming humanity’s future.

His message came on the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. He said the tragedy is still a serious warning to the world, especially about the dangers of nuclear power during conflicts.

The Pope also called for wisdom and responsibility in global decision-making. He said nuclear energy should only be used in ways that support life and peace.

He further warned against consumerism, prejudice, and war, saying they are major causes of instability in the world today.
