The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly warned against any attempt by the Coalition of African Democratic Congress (ADC) to hijack its leadership, insisting that the party remains committed to its socialist roots and is “not for sale.”
Addressing a press conference in Kano on Monday, National Chairman of the PRP Vanguard, Comrade Abdulmajid Yakubu Dauda, said the party’s foundational philosophy of socialism will not be compromised or traded for any political interest.
Dauda accused certain individuals in Kaduna, whom he described as “the Kaduna Mafia” of attempting to seize control of the PRP despite never being genuine members of the party.
He claimed these personalities have been indiscriminately inviting members from the ADC and other parties facing internal crises to swell the ranks of the PRP.
“The Kaduna Mafia is not the PRP. It is the enemy of the PRP. It is the establishment. It is the Arewa umbrella of the ruling class. It is not opposed to capitalist exploitation of the people,” Dauda declared.
He issued a stern warning to potential “depositors” and those eyeing the party for purchase: “The PRP is not for sale to the highest bidder… Buyer beware. Do not risk your deposit.”
Dauda maintained that the PRP is Nigeria’s longest-serving party of the masses, founded by the working class, progressive intellectuals, nationalists, and the toiling people.
He stressed that the party was never created to serve the interests of the exploiting classes.
The PRP Vanguard leader also revealed that the ongoing leadership crisis in the party is already before the courts and dismissed any talk of reconciliation with the rival faction.
To those calling for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dauda posed several questions: “Unite on what basis? What is the status of the socialist orientation of the party in the hands of unelected bourgeois bureaucrats and careerists?”
He further argued that the party cannot be run like a personal fiefdom, accusing the Kaduna group of being disconnected from the grassroots and engaging in “cap in hand politics,” seeking favours from billionaires during election periods.
Dauda reaffirmed that the PRP Vanguard will not relinquish leadership of the party to what he called “capitalists.”
The development adds to the growing tension within the PRP, with reports of parallel factions and allegations of external interference in the party’s affairs.
