Two die in Kaduna road crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kaduna Sector Command, has confirmed two fatalities in a road traffic crash along the Kaduna Western Bypass.

The Sector Commander, Andre Longkam, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Kaduna.

He said the crash occurred at about 1:45 p.m. at the Federal Eye Centre Junction and involved a DAF truck, a Honda vehicle and a motorcycle.

Longkam said preliminary findings indicated that the Honda vehicle collided with the motorcycle, resulting in the death of the rider and a passenger.

“Two persons lost their lives in the crash,” he said.

He added that in the aftermath of the incident, some irate youths set the affected vehicles ablaze, causing additional damage.

The sector commander said personnel of the FRSC, in collaboration with the Police, swiftly moved to the scene to manage traffic and restore normalcy.

According to him, measures were put in place to ensure the free flow of traffic and prevent further incidents.

Longkam expressed concern over the crash and urged motorists to exercise caution, especially on roads under construction.

He advised drivers to obey traffic regulations and avoid actions capable of worsening emergency situations.

The FRSC boss said the investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing, adding that the command remained committed to ensuring safety on the nation’s roads.
