A yet-to-be-identified man has cried out after operatives of the Nigeria Police Force raided a shop and harassed customers.
The incident, captured in a viral video shared on X on Monday, shows a chaotic scene as the officers disrupted activities at the premises.
In the video, a voice explained the situation amid the commotion, stating that the officers did not give reasons for their actions.
“We were harassed by the police recently. They came in and my friend, the owner of the place, tried to interact with them to know what the problem is. They didn’t give any reason… they were just doing random raid,” he said.
He added that attempts to engage the officers were met with intimidation.
“We were trying to calmly talk to them… they try to emotionally blackmail you, bully you,” he said.
The speaker further claimed that the situation escalated when the shop owner was slapped.
“While my friend was still trying to talk to them, they went and slapped him unprovoked,” he said.
Questioning the conduct of the officers, he added, “Why are you not fighting bandits? When you see innocent citizens, you bully them, you harass them, you want to exploit them.”
He also noted that one of the individuals questioned was singled out without justification.
“He asked him and he said he works in a hotel, that was his only crime,” he said, adding that citizens should be informed of reasons for arrest.
“You don’t expect me to just follow you. I should know what I have done and where you’re taking me to, especially in this state of insecurity,” he said.
