Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany will not be on the touchline for his team’s Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain due to suspension, but he says he will still support the team from inside the stadium.
Kompany explained that he understands the rules of his suspension and will follow them, while trusting his coaching staff to lead from the sidelines. Assistant coach Aaron Danks is expected to take a more active role during the match.
Joking about whether he could sneak into the dressing room like José Mourinho once did, Kompany laughed and said his height makes that impossible.
Looking ahead to the match, Kompany acknowledged PSG’s strong attack but insisted Bayern also have dangerous players. He said both teams are creative and evenly matched, and that the game will likely be decided by small details, intensity, and energy.
Bayern will be missing some players due to injury, including Raphaël Guerreiro, Serge Gnabry, Tom Bischof, and Lennart Karl. However, Kompany remains confident that his squad is strong enough for the challenge.
He also praised PSG manager Luis Enrique, saying he has built a strong and united team. Kompany noted that PSG deserved their Champions League success last season and are currently one of the best teams in the world.
Despite that, Kompany said Bayern are determined to win the title and are motivated for both legs of the semi-final.
He added that past matches between the two teams have been very close, making it hard to predict what will happen. According to him, the outcome will depend on the players’ quality, belief, and performance on the day.
Finally, Kompany dismissed the idea that this match should be the final, pointing out that four strong teams are still in the competition. He described PSG as a team that presses intensely and can overwhelm opponents like a storm.
