Joel-Onowakpo Thomas secures APC endorsement for second term
Stakeholders adopt Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sheriff Oborevwori as sole candidates

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta South Senatorial District has endorsed Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for a second term, in what signals an early consolidation of political forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced at a large stakeholders’ rally held in Oleh, where party leaders and supporters also unanimously adopted Bola Ahmed Tinubu as sole presidential candidate and Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term.

The event drew top APC figures, including Dennis Brutu Otuaro, Emomotimi Guwor and Julius Pondi, who led the show of unity across the district.
Speaking at the rally, Otuaro described the endorsement as a strategic move to strengthen the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.

“Senator Joel-Onowakpo has done his best in the Senate, and it is only necessary that he is returned to consolidate on the gains he recorded in his first term.”
He also justified backing Tinubu and Oborevwori, citing their leadership records.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, deserve second tenures because of their outstanding performances…”
Otuaro expressed optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, stressing that unity among stakeholders would translate into victory at the polls.
“In Delta South Senatorial District, we are united by a common purpose… and we are confident that the APC will win massively in Delta State in the 2027 general elections.”
The motion for the endorsements was moved and ratified through a voice vote by party members, with the presence of local government chairmen reinforcing what leaders described as a broad-based consensus.
