Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has formally presented Engr. Mustafa Gubio as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election to Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The presentation was made on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.Governor Zulum described Gubio, a former Commissioner for Works and Housing, as the choice of APC stakeholders in Borno State after wide consultations.
Gubio recently purchased the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms and was earlier unveiled by the governor as his preferred successor.
During the meeting, Governor Zulum commended President Bola Tinubu for his role in the emergence of the consensus candidate and called for continued unity within the party in the state.
The move is seen as a major step in resolving succession issues in the APC-dominated Borno State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
