A former chairman of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Adesuwa Ehimuan, has declared her intention to contest the Oredo East constituency seat in the Edo State House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
TheTimes Nigeria reports that Ehimuan, who is seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made her declaration on Friday in Benin, the Edo State capital.
She said her decision to join the race was informed by her desire to provide effective representation of the people of Oredo East.
Speaking during the declaration, Ehimuan said the constituency deserved purposeful leadership that would reflect the needs of the people.
She promised to bring governance closer to residents and ensure that they enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Ehimuan said, “I will bring dividends of democracy to the good people of Oredo East, ensure that they feel what positive governance is all about.
“I will ensure that the youths, women and the elderly are captured in my representation as I will give them quality representation and breathe life into the constituency.”
According to her, the people of Oredo East need a representative who understands their concerns and is ready to work for inclusive development.
The former NAWOJ chairman said she would use her experience in public communication, advocacy, and community engagement to attract attention to the needs of Oredo East.
