INEC Updates Portal, Lists Baba-Ahmed As PRP National Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated its portal to recognise Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

TheTimes Nigeria reports that the update follows the party’s national convention held in Abuja.

The development addresses earlier concerns over the party’s leadership structure, as political parties begin to position ahead of the 2027 elections.

A check of INEC’s portal shows Baba-Ahmed listed alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Other officials recognised by INEC include Kanu Sunday Uchenna as National Secretary; Bayawo Yunusa Abdullahi as National Treasurer; Chuka Patrick as National Financial Secretary; and Vincent Danladi Okudu as National Legal Adviser.

Reacting to the development, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Bello Ishaq, welcomed the recognition and dismissed claims of internal division.

“The update signifies INEC’s recognition of PRP’s new leadership following the successful convention,” he said.

He added, “It is important to categorically state that there is no such thing as a faction within the PRP, the claims are baseless.”

At the convention, the party elected Baba-Ahmed alongside other national officers, including Deputy National Chairman (North), Mallam Buhari Haruna, and National Organising Secretary, Haruna Nanven.

Zonal representatives were also inaugurated across different regions of the country.
