The only member of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Leke Abejide, has officially resigned from the party, marking a significant political shift in the National Assembly.
Abejide, who represents Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopa-Muro Federal Constituency, announced his defection during a press conference, bringing an end to ADC’s lone presence in the Green Chamber.

While the lawmaker did not publicly declare his next political destination, his appearance at the briefing wearing a signature cap associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has intensified speculation that he may be heading to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development is expected to further weaken the ADC’s foothold at the federal legislative level, while potentially boosting the numerical strength of the ruling APC in the House of Representatives.
Political observers say the move reflects ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with smaller parties facing increasing pressure as major parties consolidate influence.
