Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika has rejected a new contract from Club Brugge, signalling his intention to leave the Belgian champions this summer.
Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad reports that the club have been pushing for months to tie the 23-year-old to fresh terms, but their proposals have been turned down. Onyedika was heavily linked with a January move to Galatasaray and Wolfsburg, though Brugge blocked a transfer at the time.
Premier League side Aston Villa are now among clubs tracking his situation as the summer window approaches. The defensive midfielder joined Brugge from FC Midtjylland in 2022 and has about a year left on his current deal with the 19-time Belgian champions.
Meanwhile, David Ozoh is waiting for clearance from the English Football Association to switch allegiance and represent the Super Eagles.
Born in Valencia to Nigerian parents, the 20-year-old has five caps for England at U-18 level. He is expected to be considered for Nigeria’s squad for this month’s Unity Cup, with further friendlies scheduled against Poland and Portugal in June.
Ozoh is seen as cover for injured Alex Iwobi, who recently picked up a hamstring problem while playing for Fulham. The midfielder is on loan at Derby County from Crystal Palace, scoring twice in 32 league appearances for the Rams this season.
