Police recover charms, launch manhunt for fleeing accomplice
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of acting as an informant for bandits, following a case involving threats and a ₦10 million extortion demand.
Police spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed that the incident began on April 9, 2026, after a resident reported receiving threatening phone calls from unidentified individuals.

According to the complaint, the callers demanded ₦10 million and threatened to kill the victim if the money was not paid, leaving him in fear for his life.

Acting swiftly, detectives launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Usman Isah.
The police also recovered charms believed to have been used to aid the suspect’s activities.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence, further stating that he conspired with his brother (name withheld), now at large, to commit the offence,” the statement said.
“The suspect further confessed to previous involvement in similar criminal activities some years ago,” it added.
Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice, while the suspect in custody will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, has directed officers to intensify efforts to track down the remaining suspect and dismantle networks aiding banditry.
He warned that the command would sustain its crackdown on informants and collaborators, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
