Nigerians have been reminded of the need to effectively change the present negative narrative about the country and be ready to sacrifice today for a better tomorrow.
The assertion was made by the Convener of a movement known as Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), Prophet Isa El-Buba Sadiq, who said that the situation of Nigeria must change for good.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Bauchi State chapter of IBBN and swearing-in of the state Executive Council held at the auditorium of the Rivers of Life Church, Bauchi on Wednesday.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Rev Baba Maidoki, he said, “We know that we are confronted with very bad situations in our country but God has helped us thus far to be where we are today. We need to keep pushing until we get the victory, until we win, we will not relent in our efforts.
“You should know that for every mandate, there is always a sacrifice that is required. Nobody can change the story of Nigeria but the Nigerian people. And you and I are part of the Nigerian people. You realised that democracy, they said is the government of the people by the people for the people.”
He added that, “Now, we the people, will have to be part of the process. God has helped us to come to where we are today, we have seen the successes, and we have seen how we have been able to push away darkness and bring certain forces to their knees. We cannot at this point, relent in our efforts and also in our sacrifices.
“We must also understand that we are a new breed without breed, we are not money driven, we are driven by a vision that is compelling us for a change. I, as your leader is making every sacrifice as a person and as a family. It has not been easy on my family making these sacrifices financially to push the release and deliverance of Nigeria.”
Isa El-Buba Sadiq stressed, “I chose not to just stand on the fence but chose to throw myself in the middle of the field to fight this battle and that is the reason why today. Many of you have come on board and following me because you believe in the mission of what I believe, you believe in the mandate of what I believe, you believe in the vision that is driving us.”
“So, I want to encourage you to know that you cannot solve the problems that you encounter as a person overnight just because you joined the movement, no, we are fighting to change the narrative, anything that will aid in changing the situation of Nigeria.
“Until the day Nigerians become selfless, removing selfishness and self-centredness and do away with allowing money to influence us and our dedication. Until we come to that point, I tell you the truth, Nigerians will be far away from deliverance.”
He enjoined the inaugurated EXCO members to ensure that they are honest and transparent in their leadership so that the objectives of IBBN would be achieved by changing the perspective of Nigeria positively.
Isa El-Buba Sadiq further charged them to do a good job by mobilizing the people of the state to be effective participants in the Nigeria project to leave behind a legacy worthy of emulation.
In his pre-inauguration address, Bauchi State Chairman of IBBN, Comrade Jeremiah Danasabe said, “I want to assure this to you, that you and I have a legacy to leave behind as did our hero’s past, as our forefathers did.
“Now, IBBN is changing the narratives and dynamics of democracy. Thanks to our Convener, the Global Chairman who through, God keyed into the vision that was handed to him by God.
“IBBN is more than 6 years today, and it’s all over the nation, extending beyond the boundaries of our country Nigeria, doing exploits from national, states, LGAs wards down to polling units.”
The Chairman explained that the major aim of IBN is the eradication of democratic illiteracy and ignorance within the hemisphere saying, “In a nutshell, IBBN is: To advocate for a new Nigeria that is built on the principle of democracy, rule of law, equity social justice and liberty for all regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, race, social status.”
Jeremiah Danasabe said that it is also to embark on programmes designed to transform Nigeria into a corrupt-free society where merit will be the yardstick for considerations in the distribution of commonwealth and mobilize and mentor the younger generation into leadership positions in all strata of life.
IBBN is to also build a nation that is rooted in the fear of Allah and the wellbeing of the citizens, providing a voice for the voiceless Nigerians by advocating for a better and brighter Nigeria where the ordinary citizens will freely and effectively exercise their franchise.
